City of La Center’s Interim Administrative Chief of Police

Mayor Greg Thornton has selected Robert (Bob) Richardson to serve as the City of La Center’s Interim Administrative Chief of Police.

Chief Marc Denney has accepted a position as the Chief of Police with Burlington, Iowa, on December 14, 2020.

Chief Richardson has a long and distinguished law enforcement career spanning over forty years. His most recent employment was the Chief of Police for the City of Battle Ground for 9 years before retiring in February, 2020.

Before serving as the Chief of Police for the City of Battle Ground, Chief Richardson worked for the City of Irvine, California, for 30 years before retiring as a Police Commander. He is also a veteran of the United States Army.

Chief Richardson has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Known throughout Clark County and the state for his law enforcement expertise and training, Chief Richardson is equally as passionate about his commitment to his community partners.

Chief Richardson previously served on several boards and committees in Clark County, including the Clark County Health Advisory Commission, Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency, and the Clark County Juvenile Justice Council, to name a few.

Sergeant Chris Olsen, who has been with the City of La Center since 2004, will play a key role in supporting Chief Richardson in managing the department.
