Chief of Police for the City of La Center retires

Marc Denney, who has served as the Chief of Police for the City of La Center since 2013, announced he is retiring from his position effective January 29, 2021.

Chief Denney is relocating to Iowa, where he will serve as the Chief of Police for the City of Burlington.

Mayor Greg Thornton, the City Council and the citizens of La Center appreciate Chief Denney’s many contributions to the City and wish him success in his new position.

The City anticipates identifying a police professional from within the state to serve as Police Chief on an interim basis. COVID restrictions prohibit a large gathering to acknowledge Chief Denney’s retirement. However, Mayor Thornton anticipates there will be a formal virtual demonstration of appreciation for Chief Denney during an upcoming City Council meeting.
